Founded in 2019, Communities Mental Wellness (CMW), was borne out of the need to promote mental well-being of the individuals, families, and communities
through meaningful and targeted life course strategies in Kenya and beyond.
Communities Mental Wellness aims to raise awareness of child and adolescent mental health problems and promotion among policy makers, health, social service and educational professionals, and parents and adolescents.
Legislation on mental health rights and service provisions are developing in several African countries. However, there is a risk of failure to implement existing rights and provisions, partly due to lack of awareness of mental health issues on the part of both the public and some mental and public health professionals. This is even more true for mental health issues among children and adolescents. .
